NorthamptonshireSearch.com
has been created by local people for local people and visitors to
the county. We are not part of a large national group or company
who have many "local" sites that ultimately link to a
country wide database, we are in Northamptonshire for Northamptonshire.
The site is based on the old yahoo type directory/search model.
The sites listed in the directory are about Northamptonshire life,
people, business and other aspects in general. They include personal
homepages, business, local information and other search and directory
sites. We also link to individual pages within a site if we think
that it helps in the search for more specific information about
a subject. For example, a general site about Northamptonshire will
be listed in the Northamptonshire top level category. If the site
contains a page about Kettering, we will link to that also. This
allows a search for Kettering to bring back as many pages and sites
that are relevant.
It
was difficult deciding on the method to be used in categorising
the directory. In the end we chose to use the major towns as the
top level. The local area of each town is based on its postal code.
The following list shows how the towns are split.
NN1 to NN7 - Northampton
NN8, NN9 and NN29 - Wellingborough
NN10 - Rushden
NN11 - Daventry
NN12 - Towcester
NN13 - Brackley
NN14, NN15 and NN16 - Kettering
NN17 and NN18 - Corby
PE8 (part) - Oundle
There are some exceptions to the postal code rule, mostly near the
county borders, for example, villages around Rugby (CV code), Oundle
(PE code), north of Corby (LE code) and in the south of the county
(OX code). Where this happens then the village is placed in its
council district. For example, Clipston has an LE postcode but is
in the Daventry district council area.
Other items of local interest are located on the side bar. We have
also placed national and international links that we think will
be of interest to you.
