Submit a Site

• Entry to the search/directory is free. Please follow the short guide to help us and you get the best possible results from NorthamptonshireSearch.
  
• The site must be relevant to Northamptonshire. This means that it must be about the county or a business, organisation, town, village etc. within it.
  
• Is it listed already? Check by searching the directory for the site by title, or by browsing the appropriate categories.
  
• To submit the site, click the 'Submit a Site' link on any page in the directory section. Fill in the form and send it to us. We will then review it before adding it to the directory.
  
• Please note that the form is a guide only. If we think that it needs to be edited or placed into a different category than has been suggested, we reserve the right to do so. The reason for this is to help the search function in finding appropriate results. (back to top)
  

Search Box

• The search is very easy to use. Type a word into the box and click on search. It is best to use only one or two key words without punctuation. The whole database will then be searched and all sites containing the key word(s) will be displayed (if any are found of course).
  
• On the home page there are three options when using two or more words in your search:-
  1. and - Search will bring back results that contain all words that you typed .
  2. or - Search will bring back results that contain either of the words that you typed.
  3. phrase - Search will only bring back results if the exact text is found.
  On the results page there are two further options.
  
• 1. case sensitive - If you use capital letters the results that are returned will only be those that match exactly. (We think that it is best not to use this one).
  2. whole words only - Using this eliminates the problem of some words being mixed up. For example, the search for 'pub' will also return results that include 'publishing.
  
• One other search option is search this category. You can do a search of each individual category as you browse through the directory. (back to top)
  

Directory

• From the home page you have a choice of top level categories which are based on the principal towns in the county plus one other for Northamptonshire in general. Just click on the town/category that you wish to view. You will then be taken to the next level. Here you will find sub categories and links to web sites that fit your chosen category. The number in brackets indicates the number of entries within the next level. These sub categories may have further sub categories and so on. The blue bar in the directory is also is also a navigation tool. The silver text is the page that you are currently on and the other underlined text is a link back to the category you have just visited. To return to the home page click the 'home' link at the top of the page. (back to top)
